What to Bring

Warm Clothing (Layers): Alaska’s weather can be unpredictable, so dressing in layers will ensure you stay comfortable.Waterproof Clothing (Jacket & Pants): Protect yourself from the elements with a waterproof jacket and pants.Sturdy Hiking Boots: Boots with good traction are essential for walking on uneven and icy terrain.Camera: Don’t forget your camera to capture the breathtaking glacier scenery and ice formations.Sunscreen: Even in colder months, sunscreen is necessary to protect your skin from the sun’s UV rays.Water & Snacks: We’ll provide lunch on the van, but we recommend bringing extra water and snacks for the hike.Personal Medications: If you take any medications, please bring them along and keep them in a safe place during the tour.

Itinerary

1. 7:00 AM – Depart Girdwood via the Girdwood Express to Anchorage (customer must book separately)

2. 8:30 AM – Depart Anchorage from the Downtown Visitors Center

3. 10:30 AM – Arrive at Matanuska Glacier (restroom break and gear fitting)

4. 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM – Guided Glacier Hike (includes safety briefing, exploration of crevasses, blue ice formations, and photography stops)

5. 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM – Restroom break

6. 2:35 PM – Depart Matanuska Glacier for Anchorage and have lunch on the van

7. 5:30 PM – Arrive in Anchorage

8. 6:30 PM – Depart Anchorage via the Girdwood Express back to Girdwood (customer must book separately)

9. 7:30 PM – Arrive back in Girdwood

Check-in Details

Please arrive at your designated meeting location at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time to ensure a smooth check-in process. This will allow time for any last-minute paperwork, gear fitting, and safety briefings. Girdwood: Meet at the front entrance of Hotel Alyeska Anchorage: Downtown Visitors Center at 546 W 4th Avenue If you are arriving by car, please ensure you have parking arranged, especially in Anchorage where street parking can be limited. If you're using the Girdwood Express, ensure your reservation is made in advance. Should you have any questions or need assistance before the tour, feel free to contact us. We recommend leaving extra time to account for potential delays.
